Before paying
Use Universal+ for this subscription: Universal does not support ChatGPT or Claude. Availability also depends on country, account and merchant rules.
Check the card balance allowing for fees, conversion and verification charges. Use Card Details for the number, expiry and CVV, and SafePay Billing for the holder name and address. Keep the service profile information accurate.
Complete checkout
- Sign in to your account on chatgpt.com. Open the paid-plan options and check the final price and billing period.
- Choose card checkout and enter Universal+ details and the billing information displayed in SafePay. Check the total before confirming.
- Complete any issuer request and wait for the result on the ChatGPT page.
Optional: subscribe in the official iPhone app
If the official ChatGPT iPhone app offers an eligible Apple in-app purchase for your account and region, you can review that option separately from website checkout. First add an eligible payment method to iPhone Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping. A card added to Apple Wallet is not automatically available for App Store purchases.
Open the official ChatGPT app, sign in to the same account you intend to upgrade, open the available upgrade options and check the plan, price and billing interval. Proceed only if Apple’s actual purchase confirmation sheet is displayed. Some upgrades or products may only be offered through the website. If the app redirects to a website, follow the web checkout instead.
Before proceeding, check for an existing web or store subscription to avoid double billing. After purchase, verify the plan in the same ChatGPT account. Manage Apple-billed renewals under Settings → your name → Subscriptions and web-billed renewals in ChatGPT billing settings. ChatGPT subscription and OpenAI API billing remain separate.
A particular ChatGPT free trial is not guaranteed to be available to every account. If an introductory offer appears, read that offer’s eligibility and payment-verification rules. Do not assume that a VPN or a change of account region will unlock it.
After confirmation
Check the active plan and payment history in ChatGPT Settings → Billing. Paying for ChatGPT does not fund API usage: these are separate products with separate rules and billing.
If a 3D Secure request appears, complete the confirmation shown in SafePay, then return to the merchant. Do not pay again while the result is pending. For an error, keep its text, time and amount.
OpenAI requires supported user and issuer regions. Do not bypass country restrictions; if declined, check OpenAI eligibility and contact support.
