How to pay for Steam

Buy a game under Steam’s store-country rules and check the result.

Updated

Before paying

Check that the service is available to your account and accepts your chosen card. Universal and Universal+ differ in fees and issuing country; the merchant may apply its own restrictions.

Check the card balance allowing for fees, conversion and verification charges. Use Card Details for the number, expiry and CVV, and SafePay Billing for the holder name and address. Keep the service profile information accurate.

Complete checkout

  1. Sign in to your Steam account. Check the actual store country and whether the game is available there.
  2. Add the game to your cart, choose an eligible card method and check the currency, price and card requirements.
  3. Enter SafePay card and billing details, complete any issuer request and wait for Steam’s result.

After confirmation

Check purchase history and the library before paying again. Store-country changes require actual location and an eligible payment method under Steam’s rules. If your card is unsuitable, ask Steam Support for an allowed option.

If a 3D Secure request appears, complete the confirmation shown in SafePay, then return to the merchant. Do not pay again while the result is pending. For an error, keep its text, time and amount.

Steam prohibits masking residence with a VPN or proxy to evade regional restrictions or pricing. Do not use a fictitious foreign account to bypass a decline.
